OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: TUESDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2019

THEME: A CHURCH IN YOUR HOUSE?

MEMORISE:
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Acts 2:46

READ: Acts 10:34-44

10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 10:41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

MESSAGE

We often tend to forget that the Church of Jesus Christ started in a home setting (Acts 1:12-14). The family unit is indeed a sub-unit of the entire Church. The home setting is therefore the best nursery to bring up young converts in the Lord, because at that level, it is very easy to avoid hypocrisy, as everyone is familiar with everyone. When the Holy Spirit asks the question that is today’s topic, He is actually asking us two things: are members of our household Christians, and do we have any fellowship of believers in our homes? In other words, do you allow the gathering of God’s people in your house for the purpose of sharing the word, praying and caring for each other? It is important to ensure that all members of our family are born again. The Lord considers His Church to be totality of people who have given their lives to Him and are living according to His Father’s ideals (John 7:16-17). We must therefore ensure that members of our household abide by His teachings.

Today’s memory verse describes the early Church’s communal way of life. The effect of this communal living was the expansion of the Church which Acts 2:47 describes, saying:

“Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Many people don’t know the tremendous blessings they deny themselves when they refuse to accommodate house fellowship centres in their homes. Are such people not aware of the story of Obed-Edom, who by divine arrangement allowed the Ark of the Covenant to dwell in his house and subsequently received overflowing blessings. 2 Samuel 6:11 says:

“And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.”

When King David heard of how the Lord had blessed Obed-Edom because of the presence of the ark in his house, he suddenly realised that he had pushed his blessings away to another by keeping the ark in Obed-Edom’s house. Allowing your house to accommodate a gathering of people in Christ’s Name is therefore a wise thing to do. In today’s Bible reading, the Lord led Peter to the home of Cornelius to preach the gospel of salvation. While he was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came upon the “service” holding in Cornelius’ house. This was a manifestation of the fulfilment of Christ’s prophecy of a time when people will be able to worship God anywhere in Spirit and in truth (John 4:21-24). Church is where two or three people ate gathered in Jesus’ Name, and Jesus Christ will be there amongst them (Matthew 18:20). Bring Jesus into your home by establishing a fellowship in your house and make sure members of your family are the first beneficiaries of the grace it brings.

ACTION POINT:
Develop a powerful family prayer altar in your home, witness to your immediate neighbours and proceed further to establish a house fellowship centre in your home.

Pastor Ayo Adun

There are those that take the pains to come to work in the house of God.
It’s not just about having your name as a worker in the house of God. It’s about a deeper pursuit.
You need to take your Christian walk a step deeper where it will cost you something.
Even the devil and unbelievers go to church for different reasons.
God wants you to move deeper
This makes you an authority commander.
There are certain things that only God have an influence over.
There are people that are not at the mercy of men because they know how to compel things from God.
Ahab was the king but Elijah was the ruler because he had the power to stop the famine.
If you have a stand with God, heaven will move in your behalf.
At everytime on this earth, there are 2 authorities on this earth.
You may be working in victory but there are areas you are not working in victory and it’s because you don’t have an authority in that area.
You lose your authority by disobedience to God.
When you walk in disobedience to God’s rule, authomatically you lose your authority and dominion.
The righteousness of God allows Him to bring other channels your way.
But you can’t walk under this when you lose your financial authority by disobedience of His word.
Obedience is the only approved root to step into the blessings of God.
So many struggle with obedience.
How does God bless you when you are disobedient to even the smallest instructions from God.
No man can touch your blessings.
Disobedience is the path to dryness or lack.
Is it possible that your life is filled with disobedience?
The slightest disobedience is blocking your blessings.
You can’t continue in disobedience and expect to be blessed.
You are either under the authority of God or the devil.
If you want God to be the source of your blessing, you must be be under Him.and serve Him only in obedience.
The devil will keep letting you think you are getting away with a lot of things. The devil sets you up in such a way that when you need God, you are so far away from God that it feels so difficult for you to get back to God.
You don’t want to owe the devil.
Resisting authority, working in deception is all disobedience.
If you struggle to work under authority, you mortgage your future authority.
Isaiah 1:19-20
There is a reward for obedience
There is a reward for what God instructs.
Stop being a disobedient fellow
Deut 4:30-31
All the prophets put together are not strong enough to stop your blessings if you walk in obedience.
Ephesians 6:5-8
Why is your life so limited? That’s not the life of a born again Christian.
To see the blessings of the Lord that is without limit, you need to begin to walk in obedience.
In every instruction that you are obedient to, there is a blessing.
You can’t be wicked to yourself.
For every time you want to move in blessing, there is a responsibility. There is an instruction from God.
Philippians 2:8-10
Your level of authority determines your level of possessions.
It’s not a mystery if you see someone walking in authority. You need to check his walk with God. If you want the same, strengthen your authority.
Whatever the devil can give, God can give better.
As a believer, you need to change the mentality of people by having things. Begin to have more things than they do, possess more things than they do. But you can only walk in such authority by obedience.
If you release your spirit to be infiltrated by the devil, you lose something.
2 Cor 2:9
God expects you to walk in obedience in every area of your life.
You are either obedient to God or to the devil.
Titus 2:9
What’s the difference between a disobedient believer and an unbeliever?
Is Jesus your master?
If you serve the Lord your God, He promises you a blessing.
Ex23:25-26
Where does your best go to?
Who are you obedient to? The systems of this world or the systems of God?
No church, pastor or prophet can stop your blessing if you are walking in obedience because nobody can stop your blessing.
God’s rules do change.
Deut 8:1-18
Every constituted authority is ordained from God.
Ask the Lord for more grace to live an obedient life, in constituted authority, in the church, where you work.
Grace not to reject obedience. Obedience has nothing to do with convenience.
You will need to.make great sacrifices and denials to live a life of obedience.

Thank you for joining us today.

Real Talk

Relationship/ Marriage:

Charge: Prov 13:20, Acts 4:23:

Most people manage marriages. However not everyone is in that situation. Some people love who they are with.

Gen 2: 18,20.

When God saw all that was made and none was suitable for Adam, God took the responsibility to make a suitable companion for Adam.

There is a difference between what is suitable and what is merely available.

When you pick an animal from the jungle of life and take home to settle with, there would be incompatibility problems and therefore frictions would arise.

In marriage we must use both our hearts and our heads. There are things people accommodate by emotions that common sense ought to rebuke or correct.

Everything people complain about in marriage showed up as signs in courtship.

If you refuse to wait for what God intends to create for you, you would have to manage the animal you sought out.

A person’s heart can decieve them when they are in love. Counsel in courtship, Godly counsel must never be dispised or dismissed.

Marriage is a long term race and not a 100 meter dash. In choosing, your head must be working.

People marry under pressure of burning and sexual desire and as such make painful decisions.

Issues not handled before marriage always rear up again. If you have problems, confront your problems.

People have problems with greed, violence, hot temper, theft, lust, addictions etc. Handle your problems before going into marriage and ask questions about people and their issues. Ask as many questions as possible. Probe as deep as possible.

People marry to avoid loneliness. Never allow loneliness drive you to embrace any animal. Being alone is not the same as being lonely.

There is no shame in loneliness. People must learn to handle loneliness without pressure. Some people are preys and they prey on the lonely. Everyone is lonely at one point of life or the other. Learn to be comfortable with loneliness and yourself.

When a relationship breaks up don’t rush into another one trying to fight loneliness. Our society pressures you to think you are abnormal without a relationship.

You cannot discover yourself until you are alone. A question for everyone is “can you date yourself?”. A lot of people are uninteresting and need tools and gadgets to give them entertainment everytime.

Check yourself. Are you datable? With the things you know about yourself.

It’s easy to see things wrong with others. Do you know the things that are wrong with you? Avoid the temptation of being drawn to the available.

You sometimes have to ask yourself why you attract a certain kind of people. Ask yourself what you project.

What are your sellable points? How do you market yourself? Learn to put out your best foot. Search for and master your special unique qualities.

As a young man you should be handy. There are basics about life we should master. Don’t date until you have dated yourself and you love yourself.

As a lady you must have more than your beauty/ Barbie looks. There is got to be something about you that is unique.

Today’s meeting is about provoking MCM Youths to stand out and not just be like one of the beasts who were not suitable for Adam in Eden.

Know what you are bringing to the table before you start making demands on any relationship.

Compete, compliment, complete.

Many people are looking for who to add to them. We should rather be more focused on who compliments us and who we compliment.

A date should lead to something else. Dating should be beyond fun activities. A structured date should get down to real life stuff which show capability, competence, compatibility, strength.

Remember again, loneliness is not a curse. If you are not confident in your loneliness it would be used to blackmail you in a relationship.

Don’t come to a relationship with an attitude of competing. You don’t suspect every little move. It’s okay for everyone to be weak sometimes.

Both males and females should strive to be complete. Have certain basics.

We all must learn to make ourselves comfortable. We shouldn’t be looking for people to do the basics for us. Build intellectualism, neatness, strength, capacity, liveliness, resourcefulness, uniqueness. Develop yourself until you are easily the favorable choice.

Real Talk from my Pastor last night, thought to share

Welcome to today’s Sunday Service @MyFather’s House

It’s the 1st Sunday of the month of September

Oh God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory;

*My Hope Is Built On Nothing Else*

1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3. His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain
We all have sorrow

But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me
When you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on…

For it won’t be long
Till I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow

For no one can fill
Those of your needs

You just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me
When you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on…

For it won’t be long
Till I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry

I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load

Sermon

Ministering
Pastor Ayo Adun
Some come to a church, while the church is being built, partake of the building of the church, but when it is time to partake of the blessings, they run and leave the church.
This is the story of Elijah.
Elijah ran because he was intimidated.
Success and glory can intimidate people. Elijah ran away from everything.
It seems some people handle suffering better than greatness
It seems like there are people that can manage smallness better.
What chased Elijah was orchestrated by the devil to limit him.
If the devil is strong enough, he can separate you from your channel of blessing.
How do you handle it when you hear that the closest person around you has received his greatness but you haven’t.
Anything that is making you afraid, God has already handled it.
What are you running from?
Whatever it is, it has been handled.
Is it your sin or something you did in your past, God has forgiven you.
Is it something in your family like premature death, God has already handled.
1 Kings:17:1

It is your relationship with God that gives authority amongst men.
[Until God says yes, men can not say yes
Until God gives an approval, men will not give an approval.
The issue of consecration is important.
You can’t stand on the peripheral with God.
It is when you deepen your work with God that is when God can fight for you
When Adam failed, he gave his Authority to the devil
Possessions follow Authority.
The more set apart for God your are, the more authority you will have in the world
You can decide to take whatever the devil has stolen from you by working in consecration with God this new month
Your depth of consecration with God determines the depth of what you will get from God
There are conditions for God to bless you
Make a decision of consecration with God today and you can get back your authority
Welcome to the month of consecration and authority
Is your voice recognized in the court of heaven?
If heaven must hear your voice, you need to strengthen your service to God by consecrating your self to him
In this month:
-Favour is your portion
-Success will locate you

THEME: YOUTHS, BEWARE

MEMORISE:
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22

READ: Proverbs 1:10-19

10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

MESSAGE

In these last days, the devil is using every phony argument and deceitful practice in his arsenal to entangle the souls of the simple minded. We must therefore be on our guard and put in earnest efforts to preserve our faith and gain eternity. The devil has gone to great lengths to rebrand the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life in a most attractive package, embossed with inscriptions of prosperity all over it. This evil package is now making Christians, even ministers of the gospel, jostle for the kind of lifestyle that is clearly identifiable as worldly, carnal or sensual to those whose spiritual eyes are still open. This is why we must be equipped with the word of God more than ever before, to correctly draw the line between the things of God and worldly desires. Youths are the most affected in this regards. Many of them don’t have a firm resolve to serve God. They have many teachers from electronic and print media, some of whom are apostates, loading them with unsound doctrines that are not based on the totality of God’s word. Many young people are unwilling to surrender every aspect of their lives to God, preferring to do things their own way. The way many of them live shows that they are not subject to the Spirit of the Lord, who should have control over their lives. Such carnal hearts need to see the beauty in living a holy life and loving God genuinely.

One trick the devil is using to enslave youths today is the subtle offer of delicious gifts, appointments and promises of greatness by association rather than through hard work. In many cases, no matter how hard you try, you may not see anything wrong in such an arrangement at first. You might even think it is the result of God’s favour. Under this demonic scheme, a rich and powerful benefactor, acting under the control of demonic forces, tries to use the luxuries he or she can provide to entrap a less wealthy and vulnerable person, so as to make them feel obliged to do their bidding. However, when payback time come, many bewildered victims have been left disappointed, enslaved and hopeless, and some have even lost their lives. I warn Christian youths that those who are addicted to pleasure, having roving eyes that are always seeking enjoyment and a luxurious lifestyle, are easily sucked in and entrapped by wicked predators. The language they speak follows the pattern of their father’s in Luke 4:6-7. I pray that you will not become a victim of mean deceivers in the mighty Name of Jesus. See to it that you do not fall for any deceptive proposal of the devil. Satan does not give favours away for free. His demands are usually much greater than the initial investment, and you may lose your soul in the process. Do not be carried away by appealing offers not founded on God’s principles, because they are deceitful and poisonous food (Proverbs 23:3). Beware of hugs from bears!

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please deliver our youths from the perilous times of these last days in Jesus’ Name.

THEME: HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

MEMORISE:

They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever. Psalm 125:1

READ:
Mark 11:12-14
Mark 11:20-24

Mark 11:12-14
12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:20-24

Mark 11:20-24
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading narrates a story that demonstrates faith in action and teaches what faith can do for those who live by it. Having declared to us in Habakkuk 2:4 that “The just shall live by his faith,” our Lord’s primary purpose in cursing the fig tree was to show us what living by faith really looks like. That was why the first statement Jesus made after Peter drew His attention to the withered fig tree was “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). Jesus further went on to say in Mark 11:23:

“ For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Living by faith simply means to have faith in God’s power and in His faithfulness to perform whatever He has promised. If we have faith in God, we should have the confidence to ask Him whatever we desire in the place of prayer. The Lord has told us that this is the pathway to receive our heart’s desires (Mark 11:24). If we have faith in God, we should also be confident to make declarations based on his word. We demonstrate our faith by the confessions of our mouths. Psalm 116:10a says:

“I believed, therefore have I spoken”

Our Lord expects us to declare what we believe to the mountains that challenge the integrity of His word in our lives, instead of crying to him about them. That is what living by faith is all about. A lot of us do not want to develop in our walk with God; we just want to remain at the level of babes, who expect everything to be done for them instead of taking charge. No wonder the Lord asked this question in Luke 18:8, saying:

“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”

It is one thing to pray and another thing to believe in practical terms that God will do what you are asking for. The story was told of a priest who called for a prayer meeting one Sunday afternoon concerning the challenge of drought in a particular town. After the congregation had gathered for the prayer meeting, the priest looked around and said, “Brethren, you are not ready to pray.” The parishioners wondered, “What do you mean? That is what we have come to do.” He then asked them, “What have you come to do?” they chorused, “To pray for rain to fall!” he then asked them, “Where are your umbrella and raincoats? If you believe that God will answer the prayer you have come to say, you should have brought your umbrella and raincoats!” They went back home and brought their umbrellas and raincoats, and God honored their faith. What a lesson of faith! Beloved, have faith in God.

ACTION POINT:

Take practical steps to demonstrate that you believe your prayers to God are being answered.

MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

THEME: IN NEED OF BODYGUARDS.

MEMORISE:

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psalm 91:11

READ: Psalm 91:1-13

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

MESSAGE

Bodyguards are security personnel specially trained to protect wealthy and powerful individuals. They are usually found around very important personalities and their family members. As a matter of fact, some people are not seen in public without bodyguards because they don’t feel safe without them. Nevertheless, human bodyguards are limited in power, and the cost of having them is beyond the reach of the average person. However, the good news for Christians in that we have bodyguards in this world, of the spiritual kind, who are automatically appointed to every appointed to every child of God the moment we become born again. Unlimited in power, they are invincible and operate at a speed much faster than the speed of light. The most amazing thing about our bodyguards is that their services have been fully paid for with the Blood of Jesus. That is why Hebrews 1:14 says:

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

When a child is born, what happens to the child depends on the available support system. The stronger the support system. The more fortified that child is for success in life. Princes and princesses benefit from the services of royal servants. As children of God, our Father has provided angels as part of our support system. Psalm 91:10-13 says it is the duty of our Father’s angels to ensure that no harm befalls us. Angels are therefore our personal bodyguards, who go with us wherever we go. When the children of kings go out, they are taken in chauffeur-driven cars, whereas the children of ordinary people trek even through the woods or bush paths without any form of protection. From this day onward, be conscious of and utilize the angelic protection you have around you.

A brother shared a testimony about a flight he was on. He said while airborne, the first two engines of their plan suddenly failed. In panic, their pilot told them that the plane would crash if the third engine also failed, and pandemonium broke out in the plane. All the while, this brother was sitting by the window, He turned to his left to look out, and he saw a huge angel who smiled at him and whispered to him that he was carrying the plane. To the surprise of everyone else, the plane safely landed an hour later at the nearest airport. Nobody could explain how they managed to land except this brother. He said if he had told them what happened, they would not have believed him. In the Bible, when Daniel was thrown into the den of lions, an angel went ahead of him to shut the lion’s mouth (Daniel 6:22). This season, you also shall receive the full complement of your heavenly Father’s support system, in Jesus’ Name.

ACTION POINT:

Commit your family members into God’s hands, asking that His angels will stand guard over them.

HYMN 7: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to veil His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath His covenant and blood
Support me in the ‘whelming flood:
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

When the last trumpet’s voice shall sound,
O may I then in him be found.
Clothed in his righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before his throne.

A New Life

Arise

O compatriots

Nigerians call obey

To serve our fatherland

With love and strength and faith

The labour of our heroes past

Shall never be in vain

To serve with heart and might

One nation bound in freedom

Peace and unity.

I never thought I would say this ever in my life but I am proud to be Nigerian

For the past 18 years of my life, I have watched people complain, suffer, die, regret, and say so many things about Nigeria, few of which I have experienced myself.

I always thought Nigeria was a country that can never be good, I even say it everyday that Nigeria can never go forward because I felt there was no hope for this country but watching the Big Brother Naija speech on “why I am proudly Nigerian” and hearing people from different cultures, tribes, languages, skin colour talk about why they are proudly Nigerian, I thought to myself: if you were asked this what would your response be? and I realised that it would be full of complaints but then I think about it ; this hardship or as we call it hustle we face on a daily is what makes us who we are.

I hate when people speak pidgin to me because to me it was a disgusting language but now I understand that beyond our diverse cultures, pidgin language is our language. Yoruba people understand pidgin, igbo people understand pidgin, hausa people understand pidgin, itsekiri people, do people, igala people, every tribe in nigeria can relate to it and so even though english language was forced on us, pidgin is our language.

I compare Nigeria with other countries but now I think about it, how old is Nigeria? 59 in October and how old are the other countries I compare them to? 100? Over 100?

I do not know how to express the way I feel right now and so I have decided to serve my fatherland with love, strength and faith that one day e go better

From now on I will forever pledge to my Nigeria my country, I will be faithful, loyal and honest, i will serve my country with my strength, I will defend her unity and uphold her honour and Glory for the rest of my days

And from now on, I officially rebrand my blog to not just showing my life activities but to showing the beauty of Nigeria and to let everyone know that hope lies in this great country, NIGERIA
